Our history
It all began with a question.
Before it was a school, CoRRA was a gesture of care for the neighbourhood's children.

The question that became a school
Why don't I do it myself?
1982 · The inspiration
A conversation at the parish
Maria Lúcia Ebner Rodrigues Alves was taking a Bible course with Father Kirano, then parish priest of São Patrício Church, in Rio Pequeno. Seeing so many children around the parish, she suggested a day nursery in the church hall. Alone in the region, the priest would not be able to take on that responsibility. She went home determined to take it on herself.
7 February 1983 · The founding
The doors open
After a year of planning, the school began operating in a rented house on Rua José Xavier de Araújo, in the same place where it stands today. At first, Early Childhood Education only: care, early literacy and companionship for families in Butantã and Rio Pequeno.
In the following decades · Growth
The school grows with its students
As the first classes grew up, the school grew with them. Elementary and Middle School came, and later High School. What began as a space for the little ones became a complete school.
Today · 43 years
A legacy that continues
The founder's example remains present in CoRRA's daily life and in the values that guide the school: respect, tolerance and kindness.
